Clothing is one of the three primary needs of a human being and like the other two, namely food and shelter; it started off as a basic necessity but today it has become the most important one.
The influence of the British Raj on Indian fashion and clothing were-
• Advent of Fast Fashion- The fine quality cotton were exported to Britain and garments made of them through power looms were imported to sell in India. As a result from slow fashion we changed our preferences to buy fast fashion and power loom made products.
• New Fashion terms- Terms likes blouse and petticoats started to be used within the local communities.
